For a complete list of lodging in Bend, visit www.covisitors.com. If some members of your team require free housing, please contact Mary Thomas, TD, 541-390-1419 if you have any more questions. With the baby boom in Bend, it’s tougher than ever to find rooms/floor space in local players’ homes. But if you’re desperate, we’ll at least try!
Hey Captains! Sorry for the big Essay, just want to make sure I cover everything. Please pass on this information to your teams.
Fields: J Bar J-Residential facility for boys. When approaching the fields take a left at the obvious entrance 2.0 miles past the intersection of Hwy 20 East and Hamby Rd. This is a residential facility for boys, and they live in the area near the main entrance of J Bar J. Please do not drive into their residential area. This is very important. The parking area will be in a large open field to the south of the baseball diamond. Please stay off the baseball diamond. I am trying to get some folks to help park in the a.m. Then follow the signs to the fields and Frisbee Central. This will be about a 5-minute walk from your vehicle. Frisbee central will be obvious, as it is at a large gazebo style tent in the middle of the fields.
Theme: Our theme this year, #12, is in honor of our 12th year hosting the Gandy Goose. It may sound simple but sometimes the best creativity comes from the simplest form. Be creative and have fun with your team and the #12.There are many ways to go, but we will give out awards for the top 3 most creative teams!
Captains’ meeting: 8:30 a.m. Sharp! Bring a mug. We will have hot beverages @ Frisbee central—Organic Coffee, hot water and tea, Cocoa. We will also have better than average field of food available for your consumption. If you absolutely need a Grande Double Soy Latte, there is a Starbucks across from Barnes and Noble on 27th and Hwy 20.
Dogs: If folks need to bring dogs they may be present on a leash, only. Our field hosts have allowed us to try this out, let’s be very respectful of this opportunity.
Spirit: We will give out spirit awards for the top two teams that play with the best spirit of the game. We will also ask you to nominate one player that helped your team be all that it can be in spirit, athleticism, humor, etc. You decide.
Weather: It will not be 70 and sunny. It has been snowing recently (light flurries while I write this) and you never know. Be prepared with warm clothes, sun glasses and sun screen, possible rain wear, tarp, etc. and you’ll be set.
Maps: These will be on the web site. I will make sure that all other info is on the website ASAP (it’s pretty current). At the very least it will be on before Friday. www.bendultimate.com
Free Ski Day: Friday April 11 at Mt. Bachelor! If you can come early and play in the snow, do it. Check out the website for more information: www.mtbachelor.com
Meet and Greet-Friday April 11: Meet and greet will be happening @ Silver Moon Brewery where it has been the past few years. This is between Hwy 97 and the Deschutes Brewery on Greenwood Ave. Parking is behind Silver Moon and there are usually spots right there on Greenwood Ave. Conversely, it is a short walk from most places in the downtown area. Come hang out, get housing info, check out the pools, give me rosters, etc. We will be there from 7:30-10pm. If you can’t stop by during that time, and need housing info, contact me directly: 541-390-1419.
Party time! We are hosting the party in a different venue this year: The Old Stone Church, 158 NW Franklin Ave. It actually is a church that is also a live music venue. We are happy to have our live music with The Quick & Easy Boys, a funk, rockin’ band from Portland. Be prepared to dance! We will also have our photo booth set up with some props to give you the opportunity to have that team/individual picture you have always wanted. We will hand out awards for spirit and creativity at the party.
Dinner (veg & meat options): Dinner is catered and should start close to 6:30pm, so come on time if you want a plateful and then some. We will be carding folks that look like young pups, so bring ID if you are blessed with youth. There will be lots of cheer and non alcoholic drinks as well.
Transportation: Not sure where all are staying, but there will be a bio-diesel shuttle bus available for a small fee. It’s sort of like a taxi and you can summon them if folks don't want to worry about driving to and from housing and the party: If you need to, call the Green Energy Shuttle Service: 541-610-6103.
Other tidbits: Please respect these fields. Please stay in the ultimate field and parking area ONLY. Your Dog may be present with a leash. (no cats or bunnies ) Please recycle appropriately and use the trash cans for trash. Please remember that drugs and alcohol are prohibited. Respect private residences (i.e. use honey buckets). Remind businesses who you are and why you are visiting Bend. It helps us with future events.
See you soon!
